Reserving Domain Names
Reserving domain names should be one of your first priorities when creating a website. If for no other reason, you want to make sure that the name or names that you want won't be picked up by someone else. Reserving domain names will protect against this from happening. I once went to build a site and checked its availability. It was available. I put together the information and started designing the basic layout of the site. a week later, I was ready. When I went to purchase the domain name, it was no longer available. It just goes to show how important reserving domain names is when you find a good idea or domain name.
If you've never done so before, reserving domain names is quite easy and can be done right now if you would like. Remember that your name is the first thing for a customer to see or interact with when doing business with you, so be sure to have a great name to go with your great website idea.
When reserving domain names, keep in mind that it serves more than one function. Yes, it's the doorway and name to your home on the web, but it's also your email address. Keep that in mind when making a decision on the perfect name. It's also helpful to include your main keyword or keywords in your domain name to help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
It's not uncommon for me to buy up five, ten, or even twenty at a time when reserving domain names. I do this because I want to ensure that no one can get ahold of anything related to the idea that I have.
